About me
I’m a Somatica® Institute trained sex and relationship coach, a Kresser Institute trained functional health coach, and a certified sexologist with the American Board of Sexology. I also have a college degree, but enough with the formalities.
I’ve never put a high value on traditional measures of success, status, or money. I’m not going to try to impress you with a vast list of accomplishments. I live with my wife and two teenage kids in a small house that I built out of pocket while working as a whitewater rafting and mountaineering guide. I built another house next door for my mom. We all love it here. We’re surrounded by public recreational lands, stunning natural beauty, and an intact ecosystem that features moose, wolves, and bears.
I don’t fit squarely into traditional gender roles either. I have a very masculine “jack of all trades” set of skills; everything from hunting and fishing to plumbing and sheetrock, but I’m also a stay at home dad. I’ve homeschooled our kids through the eighth grade (so far.) Now I’m entering a career field that is dominated by women.
My journey back into the workforce started with training to become a functional health coach. From my clients, I repeatedly heard that relationships were what they valued most. For some, relationships were a source of motivation to become their best selves. For others, relationships were the cause of stress and turmoil that prevented growth and negatively impacted health and well being. I began to recognize a gap in health and wellness services directly addressing relationships and sexuality in my community. Starting in my 50’s to become a sex and relationship coach is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it is also the thing that aligns most squarely with my values, and my desire to have a positive impact on the world.
